My art took an interesting turn in 2015 when I started working with Encaustic. Encaustic is a wax based paint composed of beeswax, resin and pigment. It is kept molten on a heated palette. The use of encaustic in my work has allowed me to create exciting new mixed media pieces and allows me to incorporating all the other media I love such as watercolor, pastels, collage and pen and ink into my work.
I have found a new love of drawing pet animals and trying to convey their individual character and energy. I welcome commissions.
Continuing my art career and development is important to me and I am looking forward to taking some new and exciting art workshops in 2016. I continue to go out on a weekly date with an Urban sketching group who meet in Santa Cruz.
I exhibit my work in various shows and recently had 3 of my new encaustic painting accepted and subsequently sold at The Studio Gallery in San Francisco. I exhibit and sell my art from my home studio in Santa Cruz and at The Viewpoints Gallery, Los Altos and The Santa Cruz Art League.
This year I plan to participate in the Santa Cruz Open Studios 2016 and hope to be accepted again into the 50/50 show in Pacifica.
