Born in Taiwan, James moved to the U.S. when he was five. James was a quiet, curious, and observant child who liked to read and think.

As an ex-engineer, James attended the Academy of Art College (MFA Product Design). He has created marble toys, construction sets, sculptural blocks, mobiles, and paper sculptures. 

Painting is his meditation. It keeps him grounded in the present moment free to bring his imagination to life.   

James is drawn towards Eastern thinking and aesthetics, especially Zen Buddhism and Japanese art and design because they free his imagination to wander and play without constraint.
